Bergen Chinese School is more than just a classes where your children can learn about Chinese language and culture. In addition to learning language and culture in the classrooms, students and families participate in major Chinese holiday festivities, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year (also called Spring Festival). The Chinese New Year celebration at BCS has always been a special annual event for our community as it brings students and families together for a celebration of food and culture.

While the children are in class, parents are not left out. Parents may come together to participate in activities such as adult tai chi, ikebana, Chinese brush painting, and watercolor painting through third-party teachers. Since moving to Tenafly High School, BCS has been able to offer interested parents the opportunity to join the BCS Basketball League and Pick-Up Games as a way to build camaraderie among parents. This is a great way to stay fit and also make some friends with similar interests in basketball.

Lastly, no understanding of culture is complete without a discussion of food, and that is no less true of Chinese culture. BCS works with special food vendors to offer a unique menu with tastes that may be nostalgic for some or brand new for others. The food vendors, their schedules, and links to their order forms can be found under the ‘Community’ menu.
